TV chef who fell in love with Cumbria
12 July 06

Jean Christophe Novelli has recently praised Cumbria as a destination for romance and good food. He applauds the region for fresh and tasty ingredients with many talented people to prepare it.

This may explains why the food at both Derwentwater and Conistonwater in the Lake District is brilliant. There is so many great things to choose from including a full cooked breakfast, a large picnic lunch and then if you are not full up from all this a three course dinner is to follow in the evening and don't forget the Cream teas on Sunday afternoon.

But don't just take our word for it, here is what some of our guests have to say:

I still cannot get over the variety of food available for the packed lunches.
Jill Coulter, Bangor

Excellent food and in plenty. Imaginative cooking.
Dr H Macanespie, Glasgow

The food was amazing, I felt very spoilt.
Mr V McPartlan, Buckinghamshire

Book now online or call 0845 470 7558 to discover either of these two great locations, Derwentwater and Conistonwater .

Staff, Leaders and guests alike were pleased to support Macmillan Cancer Relief's recent Walk Wonders event and raised more than £2750 through sponsored walk events on 19 and 21 May.

HF Holidays walkers at locations across Britain put their holiday time to good use for the benefit of Macmillan Cancer Relief by generating sponsorship for the walks they undertook. Staff from HF Holidays' London Office joined a walk at Abingworth in the South Downs and single-handedly raised almost £1,000 of the total money raised.

Well done to everyone who took part, if you would like to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief, visit their website for forthcoming events.

16 June 06

The upper section of the original 1850's Coach and Horses Drive leading to HF Holidays' Country House accommodation Nythfa House near Brecon in the Brecon Beacons National Park is now reopened. The local walking holidays specialist tour operator features the drive in its walking programme as a Nature Walk from 29th May 2006.

Extensive ground clearance and tree & bush pruning was undertaken by Nythfa House Managers Caroline and Peter Halsted and staff this Spring, and this is being followed by the planting of shade-loving flowers and fungi. This ongoing project is hoped to greatly benefit the enjoyment of the company's guests, as well as bring attention to the local history.
