Day 1: Depart UK
Day 2: Arrive Kathmandu (1 night).

Days 3-5: Fly to Bagdogra and transfer to
Darjeeling (3 nights). Here amidst reminders of the
Raj, we walk through the forests and tea estates
and ride on the spectacular Darjeeling Railway. |
Days 6-7: Drive into Sikkim to Pemayangtse
(2 nights) for walks to the Tibetan-influenced
monasteries of Sanga Choeling and Pemayangtse.
Days 8-9: Arriving in Yuksom (2 nights), we walk
the trekking route alongside the Prek Chu River.
Day 10: Continue to Gangtok (1 night), the capital
of Sikkim.
Days 11-13: Journey to Martam (3 nights), a
beautiful village where we get a real feel for the
local way of life.
Days 14-15: Continue to Kalimpong (2 nights) for
walks along village paths and terraced hillsides.
Day 16: Flight to Kathmandu (1 night).
Day 17: Return flight to the UK.

Day 1: Depart UK

Days 3-4: A spectacular flight over the Himalayas to Paro (2 nights) with its monasteries and palaces. |
Day 5: Hike to the famous Taktsang Monastery and a
short drive to Thimpu (1 night).
Days 6-7: Explore Thimpu, the extraordinarily quiet
capital city. Later we drive over Dochula Pass to
Punakha (2 nights), where we visit Punakha Dzong.
Days 8-11: Walk through the breathtaking Phobjikha
and Bumthang Valleys (4 nights). Very few places on
Earth offer such a pure and untouched environment
with temples, fortresses and traditional farms.
Day 12: Drive back to Punakha (1 night) and walk in
the tranquil Limukha valley.
Day 13: Travel to Thimphu to explore the market and
then on to Paro (1 night).
Day 14: Free time then fly to Kathmandu (1 night).
Day 15: Return flight to the UK.

Walks in Bhutan are similar,
yet slightly higher altitude to a maximum of 10,500ft.
