A challenging and massively rewarding trek up one of the world’s great mountains and the roof of Africa. Take the long and scenic Lemosho route to Kilimanjaro’s summit, with plenty of time for acclimatisation, and relax afterwards in the beautiful Serengeti.

Itinerary |

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha (1 night).

Day 2: Start of our Kilimanjaro Trek (8 nights) through the lower forest. |
Days 3-4: Walk to the Shira volcano with the first direct views of the peak before crossing the plateau to Shira 2 Camp.
Days 5-6: Ascend into the alpine desert to Lava Tower Camp at 4,600m and up the Barranco Wall to Karanga Camp.
Day 7: Follow the steep Barafu path and overnight at Barafu Camp.
Day 8: We trek to the Kibo Crater. We camp tonight in the crater, a short walk from the glacier.
Day 9: A memorable day ascending to the roof of Africa! After an early start we climb to Uhuru Peak. We descend the glacial valley for overnight at Millenium Camp.
Day 10: Descend the mountain into the rainforest and on to our resort in Arusha (1 night) for a celebration dinner.
Days 11-12: Travel to the Ngorongoro Crater (2 nights), home to large herds of wildebeest, zebra, elephants, lions and leopards, for bush walks and game drives.
Day 13: Transfer to Arusha for our flight home.
Day 14: Arrive UK.

Guided Walks:
Kilimanjaro is not a technical climb, but the trek is made challenging by the altitude, with the summit at 5,895m. Each day’s walk on the climb varies between 2 to 5 hours, and an average elevation gain of 585m per day. |

On the plains we stay in well appointed safari tented camps and lodge, offering great food and service. On Kilimanjaro we stay in 3 man tents for use by 2 people. There is also a mess tent and toilet tent at each camp where you will be well supported and catered for by our local partner’s large and efficient team.
