Modern western-style hotels are used in Tokyo and Kyoto. In rural areas we stay in Ryokan; a unique and classic Japanese experience. These traditional inns may be modern or older wooden buildings but the rooms are always traditional with futons laid out in the evening. Evening meals are exquisitely prepared multi-course meals.
