Combining visits to China's main historic sites with a selection of walks amidst the stunning limestone peaks of the Yangshuo countryside, and city sightseeing in Hong Kong, this holiday offers a memorable insight into both ancient and modern China.

Day 1: Depart UK |
|
Days 2 - 5: Arrive in the great imperial city of Beijing (4 nights) where we visit the Forbidden City and travel to the quieter Jinshanling area of the Great Wall for an exhilarating walk on this historic site. |
Days 6-7: Flight to Xian (2 nights) with visits to the ancient city and the vast burial place of the Terracotta Army.
Day 8: Fly via Kunming to the timeless old town of Lijiang (1 night).
Day 9: Take one of the most iconic walks in China at Tiger Leaping Gorge and overnight at Tea Horse Guesthouse.
Days 10-11: We end our trek amidst wonderful mountain scenery and return to Lijiang (2 nights).
Days 12-13: Fly to Guilin (2 nights) and walk in the hill terraces of Longji.
Days 14-15: Cruise down the picturesque Li River to Yangshou (2 nights) where we walk to a mountain retreat and explore the unusual landscapes.
Days 16: After a morning walk we fly to Guilin (1 night).
Days 17-18: Fly to Hong Kong (2 nights) where we visit surrounding peaks for views of the city and have free time for shopping and exploring, before evening flight to the UK.
Days 19: Arrive UK.

Guided Walks:
The first part of the holiday is primarily sightseeing, with some short walks. We then enjoy full and half-day walks of 2-8 miles in the Lijiang, Guilin and Yangshuo area, with ascents of up to 1,900ft. |
