Day 1: Depart UK.
|

Days 2-4: Our stay in
Cape Town (3 nights) includes spectacular walks to
Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Table Mountain and
the dramatic Cape Point Nature Reserve. We’ll also
walk on the famous Cape of Good Hope, including a
visit to Boulders Beach penguin colony, Seal Island
and the infamous Robben Island. |
Day 5: Enjoy a full day’s moderate walk in the
beautiful Cape winelands, an area of rolling hills and
patchwork fields. We walk with a specialist wine guide
from the area and call in at a number of wineries for
tastings. The day ends at the five-star Le Franschoek
hotel in the town of Franschoek
(1 night).
Day 6: Journey over the Franschoek Pass, stopping
for a break at Swellendam and Calitzdorp, a port wine
producing area. We arrive at Outsdoorn (1 night), where we visit one of the famed ostrich
farms to see the remarkable birds. We continue to
Housemartin Guest Lodge, an attractive Victorian
manor house including luxury rooms with a private
verandah leading out to the lovely gardens, orchard
and pool.
Days 7-8:
Take a morning walk to Meiringspoort Waterfall
and the Groot River Gorge, before heading to Knysna.
We take a boat trip to the Featherbed Nature Reserve,
with its pristine natural environment, enjoy a walk and
great ocean views. Continue to Tsitsikamma (2 nights)
Days 9-10: Experience Africa’s remarkable wildlife at Kariega Game Reserve (2 nights). Set high above the
Kariega River valley, this 6,000 hectare reserve is home
to lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhino, hippo, hyena
and giraffe as well as abundant birdlife. Enjoy afternoon
game drives and a bush walk with a naturalist guide, as
well as walks on the superb beaches at nearby Kenton
on Sea.
Day 11: Transfer to Port Elizabeth for the flight home.
Day 12: Arrive UK.

This is a varied holiday combining in walking, coastal journeys, cultural visits and wildlife encounters. Most
walks are part day, though a few full-day walks are included.

Guided Walks:
Walks are varied between 2 and 9 miles over generally undulating terrain, with the exception of Table Mountain where we take a moderate route to the summit with an ascent of approximately 2,000ft. |

It can be warm in February; on the September departure expect average temperatures of between 17C and 22C, on the October departure temperatures will be slightly higher. The Drakensberg Mountains will be a few degrees cooler due to the higher altitude.
