Day 1: Arrive in Calgary (1 night) in Alberta. |

Days 2-5: A morning walking tour of downtown
Calgary before driving along the Trans Canada
Highway to Banff
(4 nights) our base for three days’
walking admist spectacular Rockies scenery. Walks
could include a trail to Helen Lake, nestled at the
base of Cirque Peak or through the forest to the
snout of the mighty Stanley Glacier. A free day
provides time to ride the Sulphur Mountain
Gondola or visit the Whyte Museum. |
Days 6-8:
We take a short but spectacular drive to Baker Creek (3 nights) via Lake Louise, a perfect
aquamarine water surrounded by sheer mountain
slopes and glaciers. Walks in this area, such as the
ascent of Big Beehive, reward us with views down
to the lake and the Valley of the Ten Peaks. We also
visit Yoho National Park with walks including
Emerald Basin and Niles Meadows.
Days 9 - 11: Our journey continues to Jasper
National Park (3 nights) a fascinating wilderness
of glacier-fed lakes, rushing rivers and
snow-capped mountains. Walks could include the
Angel Glacier and a circuit of the Opal Hills.
Days 12-13:
Travel and introductory walks in the
pristine mountains and alpine valleys of
Kananaskis (2 nights). The quiet and unspoilt
region of ‘K Country’, is one of the Rockies hidden
gems. Our walks head for the Ptarmigan Cirque
and ascend into a high mountain valley and the
impressive natural amphitheatre of the
Pocaterra Cirque.
Day 14: Time for final walks or sightseeing before
returning to Calgary and the flight home.
Day 15: Arrive UK

A holiday with the emphasis on walking. Walks are up to 8½ miles and 1,000ft of ascent, with the option of a harder walk of up to 10 miles and 2,000ft of ascent on most days. |
