Travel to the Canadian Rockies this summer for an escape amongst the awe-inspiring landscapes and wide open spaces of Western Canada. Pristine lakes, unspoilt national parks, and an unbeatable choice of excellent trails means this is one of the best walking destinations in the world.
The holiday spends 3 nights in Banff. One of those lively outdoor centres, Banff enjoys one of the most beautiful settings in the world, surrounded by a huge national park with more thank 1,500 kilometres of trails of all kinds. This year heralds the 75th anniversary of the Banff Summer Arts Festival which is one of the world’s major mountain festivals. The Banff Centre offers over 150 events ranging from jazz and opera to visual art and film and casual afternoon recitals, not only in the theatre but also on the streets and parks outside. Artists from the state of Alberta, across Canada and around the world converge for an interesting arts programme in a stunning location. So during the summer months Banff offers an exciting added extra to its already formidable setting.
The Canadian Rockies holiday offers many other highlights, including:
- Staying at Baker Creek Lodge, well off the beaten track near beautiful Lake Louise. Snow capped peaks, montane forest, and glacial fed streams can be enjoyed from your log chalet. The bistro enjoys an excellent reputation among locals.
- Walks in Kananaskis Country, away from the more crowded areas, with amazing views of the Columbia Icefields. This area includes the option to walk Little Highwood Pass, with some of the most prolific alpine flower meadows in the Rockies, made even more spectacular by hundreds of Tortoiseshell butterflies drawing nectar from fields of arnica.
- The holidays are run by Chris Sears of Fundy West, son of Nancy Sears, a long-time partner of HF Holidays with a deep understanding of HF Holidays guests’ likes and requirements.
