Frequently Asked Questions
Cycling Holidays
This page is designed to answer any questions you might have about how Cycling
Holidays work. If you cannot find the information you are
looking for then please call our office on + 44(0) 208 732 1280 or email us at
cycling@hfholidays.co.uk for
more details.
Unfortunately not. Most holidays are booked through agents in the country they
are based in, and these agents take bookings from all over Europe. However, we
can advise on whether a tour is likely to be popular and which dates are
already fully booked. When you have decided to book, we send your requirements
to our agents, and they will then either confirm those dates, or suggest alternatives.
In most cases we are able to accommodate our guests' preferences.

Our agents abroad do not allow us to make provisional bookings and therefore
we are not able to offer this service ourselves.
To book, you can either send in your completed booking form (found in the back
of the brochure) along with a cheque for your deposit, or call us direct on +
44(0) 208 732 1280 and we will take your details and credit card number over the
phone. We do not bank your cheque or take money from your card until all arrangements
have been made and you are happy with your booking.

Everyone can enjoy our holidays, although it does help if you prepare yourselves
a little. For most people 24 miles per day is reasonable, but 40 miles is hard
to do unless you cycle regularly. Some of our holidays are less than 15 miles
a day, and this gives you more time to sightsee and take tea breaks!

Yes, it is £15 for 7 days and £10 for 5 days, on holidays in Europe.

Approximately two weeks before you are due to depart we send you an information pack with
all the necessary details in it, including directions and transport links to your
hotel.

Yes we can. However, flights are offered on a request basis and we are therefore
only able to advise you on times and prices after your accommodation and tour
has been booked.
When you make your booking we will put in a request with our flight department,
and then contact you with the flights we have available. It is always necessary
to ticket our flights immediately in order to hold them and if this is the case
you will need to pay for your flight at the same time that you pay your deposit.
This sometimes means that we can offer you a better price than that published
in the brochure but we will confirm this for you at the time of making arrangements.
Please note that we always advise people making their own travel arrangements
to book their flights after their holiday has been confirmed by us.

Holland is excellent, as it is flat and has a good network of well maintained
cycle paths. Holland
in a Nutshell has quite short distances and is a good
introduction to cycling holidays. You could also try a Hoge
Veluwe National Park Short Break where you can cycle as little or as
much as you like, as well as taking in part in other fun activities.
Passau to Grein
is aimed at families and therefore has an itinerary which
includes shorter distances and 2 free days. Leisurely Lake
Constance also has shorter distances and the Copenhagen and Northern Sealand is recommended as the best holiday
in Denmark for children.
If you want to use a child trailer, you would have to bring your own, but some
tours can provide you with child seats or children's bicycles or tagalongs. Please ask for
details.

Guided tours are ideal for meeting new people, as they guarantee a mixed group
of people doing the same thing. The Cycling and Cruising Holidays such as the Loire
Valley Tour are therefore highly recommended if you are travelling alone,
and we can sometimes arrange for 2 same sex singles to share a twin cabin, thereby
helping you to avoid the single supplement charge and make a friend! Other guided
tours include Lake Constance , Vienna
to Budapest, Veneto Highlights and Hungarian Spa Tour.
The good thing about these holidays is that the agents take bookings from all
over Europe, so there is usually a good mix of different nationalities on the
tours.

All the bicycles are well maintained and checked over before you set out, so
you are unlikely to have any major problems. A puncture repair kit is also provided
on some tours. Where a puncture repair kit is not provided, there are usually repair stations where you can go to have the bike checked or replaced.

You will be provided with labels to attach to your luggage, and in most cases
these then need to be left at the hotel reception before you depart each morning.
Depending on how long you are cycling each day, these will then be available for
you to pick up when you arrive at your next hotel.
