Frequently Asked Questions
City Breaks
We try to include the widest variety of visits including museums, monuments,
art galleries, historic churches and cathedrals, castles, boat trips and parks
to suit the group's interests. We also spend some time away from the busy tourist
track to discover hidden corners and offer the opportunity to explore the city
by night.

No, not at all - all we ask is that you tell the Leader if you want to leave the
group so that unnecessary waiting is avoided.

We use a variety of different methods to allow you to get the most from your
stay. Efficient metro and bus networks are great for seeing a lot during your
stay. We also get a different perspective by walking between the sights or perhaps
the chance to see the city from a boat trip.

City Break holidays can be quite active and you should expect to spend the
majority of the day on your feet, either visiting sights, walking between them
or riding on public transport. In total most days involve walking about 2-5 miles.
If you are getting tired then it is usually possible to miss out some of the itinerary
and return to the hotel by public transport.

HF Holidays' Leaders come from a variety of backgrounds, but all share a common
interest in travelling and exploring new areas. The Leaders on our City Break
holidays enjoy sharing their enjoyment and knowledge of the cities; a number have
trained for their 'Blue Badge' qualification. Their aim is to enable you to get
the most from your holiday and to lead you to the sights in an informal manner.

This varies from city to city and depending on the number of sights you want
to include so it is hard to give an accurate guide. Allow between £5 and
£20 per day.

Each evening your Leader will accompany those who wish to eat as group in the
evening (usually the majority). However there is no obligation to join the group
and a wide variety of restaurants are usually available within walking distance
of the hotel.

Our Leaders usually select restaurants where a three-course meal can be bought
for £12 to £15. For lunch simple picnic ingredients can be bought
for a few pounds; however you may want to allow £5-£8 for a light
meal in a café. Each city has a wide range of cafés and restaurants
to suit most pockets.

Yes - all our City Break holidays are available 'without flight' allowing you
to tailor your holiday to your needs. Efficient public transport in all the cities
