Cross-country skiing is suitable for anyone of reasonable fitness and can be
enjoyed by people of all ages.
Beginners
For beginners, the rolling meadows of Sant’Orso right by the village, prove a wonderful place to cross-country ski for the first time. Further along the valley, delightful undulating trails will take you through pastures and snowy forests, all amidst the spectacular mountain scenery of the Gran Paradiso. Later in the week, you may travel to trails in neighbouring villages and the Valnontey valley, a breathtaking wilderness of imposing peaks and glaciers.

The delightful village of Cogne is nestled in a beautiful valley suurounded by the snowy meadows of Sant d'Orso. Part of the Gran Paradiso National Park, the Aosta valley is overlooked by the majestic Mt Blanc and Mt Rosa. Renowned for its cross-country skiing, Cogne has hosted the World Cup several times. There are 11 skiing loops around the village in addition to another 80km of trails. Tracks wind through woods, beside mountain streams and glaciers and along pristine valleys.
Cogne boasts a past rich in history, culture and traditions, with majestic Aymavilles Castle welcoming you to the valley. Local Transport: We use a combination of hired transport, chair lifts and ski buses to get around during the week. The cost of local transport is not included in the price of your holiday; please allow up to €26 (approx. £20) per week in local currency.
