Slovenia's beautiful Julian Alps offer superb Alpine walking around
our resort of Kranjska Gora. These unspoilt mountains are a breath of fresh
air for walkers who come to enjoy the lush green valleys, crystal-clear rivers
and the dramatic limestone peaks that tower above. Highlights include guided
walks along the high ridges that form the borders with Italy and Austria, a visit
to the turquoise Lake Bohinj, and views of Triglav, Slovenia's highest mountain.
Kranjska Gora is a picturesque resort where you'll discover
an unspoilt way of life and warm Slovenian hospitality. Within
easy reach are Lake Bled, with its island church, and
the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.

On these holidays there is a choice of two guided walks for varying abilities each day. For maximum choice we
offer two weekly itineraries - ideal if you wish to book a 14-night holiday or return for a second visit. Holidays before 14 June offer walks from both itineraries to suit lifts and snow conditions.
ITINERARY ONE
Weeks of 14, 28 June; 12, 26 July; 9, 23 August 2008

Day 1: arrival day
Day 2: traverse the wooded slopes of the Dolinka
Valley above Kranjska Gora to the impressive Martuljek
Gorge and waterfalls.
Day 3: set foot in three different countries on a walk
along the rolling wooded ridge that forms the border
with Austria and Italy.
Day 4: walk around the beautiful shores of Lake Bohinj
or visit a mountain hut on the high plateau above.
Day 5: free day - perhaps take the bus to the Slovenian
capital of Ljubljana or the popular lakeside resort of
Bled.
Day 6: follow the Soča Trail through the Upper Trenta
Valley, walking alongside the cascading river to the
alpine botanical gardens.
Day 7: either enjoy a panoramic circuit through the
traditional farms above Kranjska Gora or ascend from
Dovje to the Austrian border.

ITINERARY TWO
Weeks of 21 June; 5, 19 July; 2, 16 August 2008
Day 1: arrival day
Day 2: wander along the Dolinka Valley to the Emerald
Lake or ascend by chairlift for walks on the Vitranc Ridge.
Day 3: explore the peaceful hay meadows of the Planica
Valley which is surrounded by towering summits.
Day 4: walk from the shores of Lake Bohinj alongside the
sculptured whirlpools of the Mostnica Gorge.
Day 5: free day - in Kranjska Gora you could explore the
network of cycle trails or try rafting on the Dolinka River.
Day 6: follow wooden walkways through the stunning
Vintgar Gorge to Lake Bled or ascend to the summit of
Visevnik.
Day 7: walk through the heart of the Julian Alps in the
shadow of Triglav, Slovenia's highest mountain.
Day 8: departure day
Please Note: The above programme should give you a good feel for the walks at this resort but is subject to change. Each year we listen carefully to the views of our guests and make improvements to our walking programmes. Further information will be sent to you prior to your holiday; however the final selection of walks will be made by your walking leaders.
Local transport to and from walks:
Local transport is not included in the cost of your holiday. Please allow €60 (approx £42) per week for local transport (payable locally in Euros), excluding your free day.
