On these holidays there is a choice of two guided walks for varying abilities each day.
ITINERARY
Day 1: arrival day |
|
Day 2: stunning panoramic views will accompany you as you enjoy your first taste of Etna’s slopes, traversing through groves of chestnut trees and across ancient lava flows.
Day 3: explore the lush green slopes of the Nebrodi mountains still farmed in the traditional way, and visit Randazzo, an ancient medieval town built entirely of lava.
Day 4: walk through the spectacular mountains towards the charming resort of Taormina with its world-famous ampitheatre and commanding views of the sea and Mount Etna.
Day 5: free day – explore the ancient city of Syracuse, once the most powerful city in the western world or sample the rural charms of Zafferana Etnea.
Day 6: discover the richly varied crater landscape high on the western flanks of Etna with the whole of Sicily’s dramatic interior spread beneath you.
Day 7: visit the old mountain village of Castiglione di Sicilia perched high on its hill-top and then follow the quiet paths to Francavilla..

This charming three-star hotel, recently refurbished in Sicilian country style, is situated above the delightful town of Zafferana Etna which is renowned for wine and honey.
