| Classic Walking programme details |
 |
On these holidays there is a choice of two walks for varying abilities each day.
ITINERARY
Day 1: arrival day |
|
Day 2: walk in the hills surrounding Montgomery and Llandyssil, with views across the valley to Corndon Hill. Both walks finish by exploring the extensive castle ruins above the town.
Day 3: from Welshpool we’ll follow Glyndŵr’sWay to the top of Y Golfa, with panoramic views into the Welsh hills. The easier option will return by the sumptuous Dingle Gardens whilst the harder walk takes in Trefnant Dingle and Harriett’s Hill
Day 4: the easier walk makes a circuit in the hills from Bishop’s Castle using part of the Shropshire Way, leaving time to look around this sleepy little town. A more demanding option is to start by Clun Castle and walk over the Cefns on to Offa’s Dyke.
Day 5: free day - perhaps visit the superb Powis Castle and Gardens. The market town of Welshpool is another nearby favourite, perhaps including a ride on the narrow-gauge Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway.
Day 6: the easier walk ascends through the fascinating Leighton Hall estate on to Offa’s Dyke and Beacon Hill Iron-Age site before descending to the River Severn. The harder option heads along the Shropshire Way to Castle Ring Iron-Age site before walking back to Montgomery.
Day 7: enjoy circular walks up on to the Long Mynd. Either walk via Jonathan’s Rock with super views of the Shropshire hill country, or take a classic walk along the whole length of the ridge, eventually descending through the Batch Valley to Church Stretton.
Day 8: departure day |

of walks will be made by your walking leaders.
