Guernsey
Guernsey, the second largest of
the Channel Islands, has a
wealth of coastal walking to be
enjoyed. The slow pace of life,
beautiful scenery and endless
sea views mean that a relaxing
holiday is assured.
Detailed information
| For greater flexibility, holidays at our partner hotels, such as Guernsey operate on a Half Board basis - picnic lunches can either be brought from the hotel or local shops. To reach the walks we'll use a variety of transport which is payable locally. |
| Classic Walking programme details |

On these holidays there is a choice of two guided walks of varying difficulty each day.
ITINERARY
Day 1: arrival day |
|
Day 2: head south along the beautiful cliff top
path, lined with ferns and bluebells, to Jerbourg
Point and Petit Bot Bay, with panoramic views
across the sea to all the other Channel Islands.
Day 3: follow the coastal path into St Peter Port
and from here take the ferry to the tranquil island
of Herm. A circuit of this unspoilt haven reveals
secluded beaches, endless sea views and hidden
corners.
Day 4: make a circuit around the north of the
island from the harbour village of St Sampson to
the dunes of L'Ancresse Bay and the sweeping
inlet of Le Grand Havre.
Day 5: free day - perhaps explore the narrow streets
of St Peter Port, visit nearby Sausmarez Manor, or
take the ferry to the fascinating feudal island of Sark.
Day 6: savour the high southern cliffs on magnificent
walks from Portelet Harbour around Pleinmont Point,
passing a succession of rugged headlands and
fortifications.
Day 7: enjoy walks along Guernsey's sweeping
west coast from Lihou Island (tide permitting) to
St Saviour's church, historic Fort Hommet and on
via Saumarez Park to the beach at Cobo Bay.
Day 8: departure day |
Please Note: The above programme should give you a good feel for the
walks at this resort but is subject to change. Each year we listen carefully to
the views of our guests and make improvements to our walking programmes. Further
information will be sent to you prior to your holiday; however the final selection
of walks will be made by your walking leaders.
Local transport to and from walks
Local transport is not included in the cost of your holiday. Please allow £15
per week, excluding your free day.
Maps
The best available map is the 1:25,000 'Official Leisure Map of Guersey' which is available from shops throughout the island. A good alternative is the 'Perry's Map' which is distributed free by the hotel and shows all the footpaths and green lanes used on our walks.

By Bus: Guernsey has a very efficient bus network, however it is worth noting that the buses don't have dedicated luggage space and cn be busy at peak times. From the airport you should catch the number 7a bus to Fermain Bay. The bus stop is on the airport forecourt, immediately in front of the terminal building. Buses run every 30 minutes throughout the day, with the journey taking 10 minutes. The single fare to anywhere on the island is just 60p. Further information about the island's buses is available at www.buses.gg. To reach the hotel from the ferry terminal
Ferries to Guernsey arrive in St Peter Port harbour. The easiest option is to take a taxi direct from the terminal building to the hotel, a distance of about 2 miles (see above for phone numbers).
Alternatively, there are regular buses on routes 5, 5A, 6, 6A and 7 from St Peter Port to Fermain Bay - see www.buses.gg. These leave from the bus terminus; approximately 10 minutes' walk from the ferry pier.
